Konza – Great hiking in any season

I’m pretty fortunate to work at Konza Prairie Biological Station. I basically spend most of my days gleefully skipping through the tall grass, basking in the sunshine, and breathing in the fresh air of one of the most beautiful tracts of land in Kansas. I’m always happy to share a bit of that good fortune by leading hiking trips on the prairie. The weather was unusually pleasant Saturday afternoon as our group of ten gathered in the hiking trail parking lot. There are several options at Konza ranging from 2 to 6 miles – most of us did the entire 6 mile loop. It’s traditionally hiked clockwise, but we decided to break the mold and go counter-clockwise. The scenery was spectacular as usual, but I’ll let the photos show that. All great hikes lead to great hunger, and so we followed our hike with A.J.’s Pizza.
