Flint Hills Nature Trail Part 2

Given how awesome the first trip to the Flint Hills Nature Trail was, it wasn’t long before I planned another day to cover the eastern half of the rails to trails path. From Admire to Vassar, the trail was noticeably less packed down, less maintained, and generally more difficult to ride than the other side. After leaving Admire, the trail exits the Flint Hills region and becomes a bit less scenic. But it was a nice day (as it always seems to be here) and it was certainly still worth riding. At one point we began herding a wayward cow along the trail and had to do some tricky maneuvering to get it behind us. Farther along, one bike had a pedal spontaneously fall off. But our ingenuity prevailed as two other bikers pushed the helpless rider to the town of Osage City where a wrench was procured, the bike repaired, and we continued on our way. The sun was just about to set when we pulled into Vassar. The trail continued on for another few miles, but we decided to save that for another day.
