My new job with NEON brought us to our new home of Manhattan, Kansas. Our first order of business was to create a hiking club and lead a trip. The Manhattan Outdoors Club officially kicked off with a successful trip to Fancy Creek, part of Tuttle Creek State Park. We didn’t know what to expect for our very first outing and were happy (and a bit surprised) when people showed up. In total seven humans (and one dog) came for the six mile hike winding through a cool cedar forest near Tuttle Creek reservoir. Following the hike, we headed to Nelson’s Landing in Leonardville, a restaurant famous for being owned by the parents of KSU and Green Bay Packers football player Jordy Nelson. A great stop if you’re an NFL fan and good food even if you’re not.
The Manhattan Outdoors Club is officially online. Stay tuned for upcoming trips and consider posting one of your own!
